Collecting nectar, pollen and water - encourage:
Provide sufficient storage space in the hive.
Provide water supply nearby but not too close, all year, clean and safe.
Controlling hive temperature and humidity - support:
Place hive in an early sun position to warm up quicker after a cold night.
Provide water supply nearby but not too close, all year, clean and safe.
Protecting the colony against intruders - discourage:
Don't position hive close to areas with physical activities.
Growing the colony and multiply - encourage & control:
Encourage growth, a strong colony can better defeat pests and diseases.
Prevent and control swarming, especially in urban areas.
A Beekeeper must control these instincts through good management.
